2024 Victorian Premier League Launch

The Premier League returns in 2024! The new competition will re-brand its Victorian-based division to the Victorian Premier League (VPL).

The Australian Dodgeball Premier League (ADPL) has a proud history, operating for four years from 2016 – 2019 with divisions in Victoria and NSW, before Covid put it on hiatus.

Through ADPL, we’ve seen 78 players represent the Australian Dodgeroos, and plenty more develop and grow the game over the years.

The VPL will follow on from the success at 2023 Dodgeball Australia Championships held in September, which hosted 17 teams across three divisions.

2024 VPL KEY POINTS:

  • SEASON TIMEFRAME:
    Begins: Saturday, April 20
    Concludes: October 19 (regular season). Finals Series (November 16 / 17)
  • VENUE: Templestowe College – 7 Cypress Avenue, Lower Templestowe
  • DIVISIONS:
    VPL | Mixed (Standard 6 players on court. Max of 4 males on court, at any given time)
    VPL | Men’s (5 or 6 Players on court, dependant on division-wide numbers)
    VPL | Women’s (5 or 6 Players on court, dependent on division-wide numbers)
    VPL2 | Mixed (If demand permits, a minimum 4 – 6 teams division)
    To consider a second division, a minimum of 6 – 8 teams must be registered in the first division.
  • VENUE: Templestowe College – 7 Cypress Avenue, Lower Templestowe
  • BALL TYPE: Cloth, 6.5 inch (Previously 7 inch from 2015 – 2022)
    Easier to grip and throw – this ball is accessible for players of all abilities, new and experienced.
    Same ball used by the Australian Dodgeroos at the 2024 Asian Championships.
  • GAMES PER ROUND: 1 – 2 games per round, in each division.
  • COST: $75 per game, per team.
  • FORMAT: Rounds will be hosted every 3 – 4 weeks on average, dependent on the number of teams in the competition.
  • DAY: Saturday’s
  • MULTIPLE TEAMS PARTICIPATION: Players are permitted to play for different teams in each division (max of 1 team per division)
  • AUSTRALIAN PLAYER CAP:
    Mixed | A maximum of 3 Australian Dodgeroos players (2023-24 ADC Saudi squad) can register for a single Mixed team in each division. Of the 3 players, a max of 2 per gender.
    Example: 2 males & 1 female per team or 2 females & 1 male per team.
    Men’s & Women’s | A maximum of 2 Australian Dodgeroos players (2023-24 ADC Saudi squad) can register for a single Men’s or Women’s team in each division.
    Only Victorian based players will count towards the player cap.
  • VIDEO: All matches will be filmed throughout the season.

1 x Shorts (league-wide shorts, only 1 pair required)

UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS:

Sports Portal – Legea is the uniform supplier for all teams in the VPL.

Each team will wear the same colour shorts. If playing in more than one team, only a jersey will need to be purchased for additional teams ($50 per extra jersey).

Once registered, to avoid any delays with the uniform design process, teams can submit designs / ideas to Sports Portal. Ensure you have your file design in the correct format for printing (AI / EPS).

If you need assistance, Sports Portal can help. There may be an additional fee for further graphic designs / alterations.  Sports Portal also has plenty of off the shelf designs on their website which can be ordered in quickly. Logos can be screen printed on the jerseys.
