Men’s Dodgeroos Unveil Leadership Team
The Men’s Australian Dodgeroos have unveiled their leadership team in preparation for the 2016 Dodgeball World Cup in Manchester, England.
Abs Venkipally will take charge of the Australian team once more, following the Dodgeroos’ success at the 2015 Asian Dodgeball Championships in Melbourne. The team lifted the trophy after defeating Malaysia in the Final.
Andrew Thomason will continue his role of Vice-Captain from last year’s Asian triumph, with Ryan Watson joining the fold, being named Co Vice-Captain for the trip to Manchester.
Venkipally takes great pride in his role and believes this Australian squad has what it takes to perform well at the inaugural Dodgeball World Cup.
‘I feel so proud and honoured to be playing a sport which I have fallen in love with. Now, being part of the men’s team, captaining, is such a privilege. Sharing these moments with the team who are just as passionate is very satisfying and I look forward to showing the world what we got.’
The Men’s Dodgeroos will have the honour of playing in the World Cup opener on April 16, up against England, the reining European champions and host’s of the tournament.
