DODGEBALL FEDERATION AUSTRALIA PRESS RELEASE
We are proud to unveil Dodgeball Federation Australia (DFA) as a new national governing body for Australian Dodgeball. The DFA is an official affiliate member of the World Dodgeball Association (WDA) – the international Governing Body of Dodgeball. The WDA manages and helps develop Dodgeball across the world, and oversees continental bodies, which includes 52 nations and approximately 5 million participants.
We have been working closely with the WDA over the past months, and are looking forward to a bright and prosperous future with the association and its partners.
The DFA is also an affiliate member of the Asian Dodgeball Federation (ADF), where our goal is to aid the development of the sport across Asia, and enhance the sport’s profile within the confederation.
The long-term objective of the WDA is to become an official Olympic and Paralympic sport, aiding the development and recognition of Dodgeball around the world. This process is scheduled to take between 12 – 16 years, where plans are in place to have this goal come to fruition.
Our focus at the DFA is to help cultivate the development of Dodgeball, raise the profile of the sport and grow participation rates of Dodgeball across the country. Together with our key stakeholders and sponsors, we aspire to have our sport recognised and acknowledged as a mainstay within the mainstream sporting fraternity.
Development programs, social activities, coaching and tournaments will be run around the country – helping us identity key areas which will aid in the growth of the sport, all the way through to our national teams, the Dodgeroos.
2015 Asian Championship / 2016 Manchester World Cup
The Road to the Manchester World Cup in February, 2016 looms for both our Men’s and Women’s National teams, the Dodgeroos.
The route to qualifying for the World Cup will be through our continental tournament, the Asian Championship, scheduled to take place in July, 2015. The DFA is currently bidding to host the tournament, and is considered a strong candidate to run the event here in Australia.

At the conclusion of each State League season, the top teams from each league will quality for the PLDA Finals Series. For more information, visit http://premierleaguedodgeball.com.au/
The PLDA will also assist in scouting Australian national team players, while playing an important role in the development of Australian Dodgeball at the elite level.
